Road to Kickoff is an honest guide to going to the football. It does two things: it helps you find the matches worth building a trip around, and it tells you the truth about getting into them. The ticket you can actually buy, where the atmosphere really is, how to reach the ground, and what to eat when you get there.
Why this exists
Mostly, it started as a scheduling problem I kept having myself. A family trip with one afternoon I could quietly slip away for. A work trip that, if the fixtures fell right, could pick up a couple of new grounds around the edges. Working that out meant a dozen tabs of league calendars, kickoff times that keep moving, and a map, all to answer one simple question: is there a game I can actually get to while I’m there? That question is the planner.
The guides are the other half of it. Most football-travel information online is one of two things: a thin listicle that has clearly never been to the ground, or a ticket-reseller site dressed up as advice, quietly steering you to a marked-up seat. I wanted the other thing, the guide a knowledgeable friend would actually give you, including the inconvenient parts. When a ticket is genuinely hard to get. When a resale market is a scam. When a famous atmosphere is having a quiet season. Honest, even when honest is the less exciting answer.
How it’s made
Every guide is researched properly, not spun out of a template. The ticket routes are checked against how fans actually get in, including the tricks that only turn up in supporter communities. Every stadium diagram is verified against a real seating plan rather than drawn from memory. Every map pin is geocoded to the real place, so a link lands on the actual bar or chippy, not a car park. Some of the stadium clips are filmed by me. When a detail can’t be confirmed, the guide says so rather than bluffing.
Independent, and not a reseller
Road to Kickoff does not sell tickets, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any club, league, or governing body. Club and competition names belong to their owners and are used here only to tell you where to go and what to expect. Fixtures and kickoff times move constantly, so always confirm with the club or official ticketing before you book anything.
How it pays for itself
The site is free to use. Some outbound links, for example to ticket operators or places to stay, may be affiliate links, which means Road to Kickoff can earn a small commission if you book through them, at no extra cost to you. That never changes the advice. Recommendations are based on what is actually good and honest, not on what pays, and the honest option always wins when the two conflict.
